Woman, two daughters found dead in farm pond near Jaipur; probe underway

Jaipur: A 25-year-old woman and her two young daughters were found dead in a farm pond in Khejroli village under Govindgarh police station area of Jaipur (rural) early Tuesday, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.Police said they received information around 4am that three bodies were floating in a farm pond. Rescue teams reached the spot and pulled the woman and the children from the water before shifting them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials said the exact cause and manner of death will be known only after medical and forensic reports are received.The deceased were identified as Pooja Yadav (25), and her daughters Harshita (3) and Chitranshi (2). Police said they are investigating all possible angles and questioning family members and others connected with the case.According to the owner of the farm pond, he heard a loud splash around 4am. When he stepped outside, he saw a woman and two children floating in the pond and immediately alerted the police. The pond is located about 1km from the family’s house.Family members told investigators that Pooja quietly left home around 3am with her daughters without informing anyone. They initially believed she had gone to the Samod Hanuman Temple, which she reportedly visited every Tuesday. About an hour later, her husband, Ramavatar Yadav, woke up and found his wife and daughters missing. Soon afterwards, the family was informed that three bodies had been recovered from the nearby pond.Police said Pooja, a resident of Nagal Kaju village, married Ramavatar, a farmer from Mundru, about four years ago. Investigators have collected evidence from the spot and said no conclusions will be drawn until the post-mortem and forensic reports are received.
