Two criminals arrested in 22L theft case

Jaipur: The city police arrested two armed criminals in connection with a theft of cash and jewellery worth Rs 22 lakh from a house. Police recovered two loaded pistols, 10 cartridges and an autorickshaw used in the crime.DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad said the accused were identified as Rajesh Srivastava alias Guddu (28), a native of Muftasil Ara in Bihar, currently residing in Karni Path Colony, Harmada, and Ranjit Singh alias Vijay Singh (28), a resident of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, now living in Khaurabeesal, Kardhani. Srivastava, a history-sheeter of Vishwakarma police station, has 11 cases registered against him, while Singh has seven. On August 13, thieves broke into a house and decamped with Rs 22 lakh in cash and jewellery. Investigators analysed CCTV footage and traced a suspicious autorickshaw. Acting on leads, police raided Khaurabeesal market and arrested both suspects. The pistols and cartridges were recovered during the search, and the autorickshaw was seized. During interrogation, the duo confessed to the burglary. Police said Srivastava earlier served five years in Jaipur jail for a 2013 murder. Both accused would recce empty houses during that day in an autorickshaw.
