Son detained for stabbing mother to death in Jhunjhunu

Jhunjhunu: A clerk posted in the public works department (PWD) allegedly stabbed his 59-year-old mother to death at their house near the Krishi Upaj Mandi in Nawalgarh town of Jhunjhunu district Wednesday, police said.The accused, Rajveer Dudi, allegedly attacked his mother, Prabhati Devi, with a kitchen knife following an argument while the two were alone at home. Police recovered the murder weapon. According to police, Rajveer called his sister Anita at 10.58 pm, prompting family members to rush to the house. They found Prabhati Devi lying in a pool of blood and took her to Nawalgarh District Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.After receiving information, Nawalgarh station house officer Ajay Singh and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sugan Singh reached the spot and detained Rajveer. Police have registered a murder case.Following a postmortem, Prabhati Devi’s body was handed over to her family, and her last rites were performed in her native village, Singnaur, under Gudhagaurji police station limits.Police said Rajveer was appointed as a clerk in the PWD on compassionate grounds after his father, Shishram Dudi, died of a heart attack. Police said he was addicted to alcohol and frequently assaulted and abused his wife and mother while intoxicated. His wife had been living with their five -year-old son at her parental home in Tarpura village in Sikar district.
