Jhunjhunu: The alleged assault on NEET aspirants at a private hostel in Sikar June 26 has triggered protests, with the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) Tuesday staging a demonstration outside the district SP office, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and strict action against those involved.Led by SFI state president Vijendra Dhaka, protesters attempted to enter the SP office premises but were stopped by police, leading to pushing and shoving between the two sides. Police later used mild force to disperse the crowd. Senior police officials, including Deputy SP Sandeep Kumar, intervened and pacified the protesters.After the protest, the SFI delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to the SP, seeking the early arrest of the accused, a fair investigation and measures to ensure the safety of students. “If the accused are not arrested soon, the student organisation and SFI will launch a major agitation,” said Dhaka.The protest follows the June 26 incident in which two NEET aspirants staying at a private hostel associated with Parth Coaching were allegedly assaulted by the hostel operator and bouncers. After a video of the incident went viral on social media, family members of the students lodged an FIR at Udyog Nagar police station June 27.Police earlier detained a bouncer, Deepak, under Section 151 on suspicion of breach of peace. Subsequently, an FIR was registered under various sections, including provisions of the SC/ST Act, and the investigation is underway.
