Around 300 visitors entered the reserve during the first safari shift as the new tourism season began Thursday

Alwar: Sariska Tiger Reserve reopened to tourists Thursday after a three-month closure, with around 300 visitors entering the reserve during the first safari shift as the new tourism season began.The first safari vehicles entered the reserve at around 6.30 am, with 30 gypsies and 10 canters carrying tourists. Visitors were welcomed with tilak, garlands and Alwar’s famous milk cake and sweets.Tourists from Germany, the USA, Delhi and Noida arrived for the opening-day safari. Sinech, a tourist from Germany, said she hoped to spot a tiger during her visit and praised the milk cake served at the welcome.Field director Sariska Sangram Singh Katiyar said bookings were full for the next month, and more visitors were expected this season. He said new safari routes were being developed, while a route introduced in the buffer zone had also helped expand tourism options.Officials said Sariska currently has 56 tigers, including 28 cubs. A convention centre is also being developed to provide visitors with information about the reserve.A tiger marathon team also visited Sariska and invited domestic and foreign tourists to participate in the 2027 event.
