RSRTC issues 33,000 RFID smart travel cards in two weeks

Jaipur: The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has issued over 33,000 RFID-enabled smart travel cards in the past two weeks under the state govt’s Gramin Sewa Shivir initiative, providing cashless free and concessional bus travel to eligible beneficiaries.Between June 12 and July 1, the corporation issued 7,203 smart cards to differently abled persons and 26,488 cards to other concession categories, including senior citizens. A total of 33,691 cards were prepared, of which 26,524 have already been dispatched.An RSRTC official said, “Personnel deployed at the camps are handling registration, document verification and application processing. Smart cards are prepared as per the prescribed procedure and delivered within seven days either at the concerned depot or the applicant’s address.”The RFID-enabled cards allow eligible passengers to travel without cash while availing their entitled concessions.Officials said the RSRTC headquarters is closely monitoring the programme, with all depots directed to ensure timely processing and delivery of cards so that beneficiaries receive their travel entitlements without delay. The initiative aims to improve accessibility and convenience in public transport across Rajasthan.
