Jaipur: Recent rainfall and dust storms have disrupted vegetable crop production, causing a noticeable drop in supply across the city. As a result, prices of several key vegetables have increased compared to May. Wholesale traders at Muhana Mandi said Saturday that this upward trend in prices is expected to continue until at least mid-July, as supply remains constrained and recovery in crop will take time.TOI spoke to wholesalers and retailers to understand the price surge and when relief might come.“Due to the recent rainfall and dust storms, the harvest of nearly every vegetable crop from local farms—including Bagru, Bassi, Kanota, Chomu, and others—has been affected. The supply is crunched, which is why prices have gone up,” said Abdul Sagir, a vegetable dealer at Muhana Mandi.Wholesale dealers say prices of key vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, ladyfinger, capsicum, tomatoes, and lemon have nearly doubled compared to May. “This is also the time for fresh seeding ahead of the monsoon, which further impacts production and supply. Prices may stabilise by July,” said Sita Ram Saini, a trader.
