New question pattern improves RBSE exam results

Jaipur: This year’s results for both Class 10 and 12 exams of Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) have improved compared to previous years, with Class 10 recording its highest pass percentage ever at 93.6%.RBSE secretary Kailash Chand Sharma said the improvements are due to changes in the question paper pattern, which is now according to CBSE exam papers. “We changed our question paper pattern in 2024 on the lines of CBSE, with short-answer type questions, very short answers, application-based questions, multiple choice questions, option-based questions, among other changes. Students can now give direct answers, which are the same for all students, and this has reflected in the marking scheme,” said Sharma.Sharma added that with long answer type questions, the interpretation of all examiners was different, which made the marking different, too. “Question papers are now more objective than subjective for all subjects. Even though the new question paper pattern was introduced last year, the results are visible now. It took one year for execution and preparing students accordingly so that they are at par with students from other states,” Sharma said.
