Bhilwara: A 78-year-old moneylender was found murdered and his body dumped in a well in Bagor police station area of Bhilwara district Sunday, police said.The deceased, identified as Shobharam Jain, a resident of Bawalas village, had returned from a religious trip about a week after leaving home but never reached his residence. His family reported him missing. On Sunday, villagers spotted a body in a well and alerted the police.Bagor station house officer Bachhraj Chaudhary said police, with the help of a crane and local residents, recovered the body from the well. After a post-mortem at Bagor community hospital, the body was handed over to the family.Preliminary investigation suggests Jain was assaulted before being killed. Police said his body was tied to a cement boundary pole and thrown into the well to keep it submerged.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s son, police registered a case of murder. Police said Jain was engaged in moneylending in the area, and one line of investigation is whether the murder was linked to a financial dispute or recovery of loans. However, officers said the motive would be confirmed only after the investigation progresses.
