Jaipur/Beawar: Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS) Sunday alleged that a group of men attacked its peaceful ‘Ghotala Rath Yatra’, an annual public awareness procession about the Right to Information Act, near Chang Gate in Beawar around 6pm, and assaulted social activists and women participants.The organisation alleged the attackers pushed and manhandled women and young women walking at the front of the procession, abused participants and raised threatening slogans. MKSS also alleged one of its activists was assaulted outside the police station.The yatra, a musical satirical performance associated with the RTI movement for three decades, was organised by MKSS and citizens ahead of RTI Day, observed on Oct 12, the day the RTI Act came into force.MKSS said it had informed the district administration in writing about the programme and that the procession was peaceful. It demanded police action and registration of victims’ complaints.SHO, Beawar City, Ashutosh Pandey, said police had registered cross-FIRs based on complaints from both parties. Police are investigating the case.
