Jhunjhunu: A 43-year-old man was killed and three members of his family injured after assailants attacked them while they were asleep in Tihavali village under Ramgarh Sethan police station limits in Sikar district late Sunday night. Residents later staged a protest demanding immediate arrest of the accused.Additional superintendent of police Tejpal Singh identified the deceased as Prakash Singh. His son Abhijeet Singh, wife Pinki Kanwar and mother Nain Kanwar sustained injuries in the attack.Family members alleged that Prakash Singh’s cousin Om Singh, along with his relatives, carried out the assault. Om Singh is the son of the village sarpanch, Bhanwar Kanwar. According to the family, a long-standing dispute existed between the two sides, as Prakash Singh had earlier lodged multiple complaints against the sarpanch.Police said the accused allegedly barged into the house late at night and attacked the family with sharp-edged weapons. Prakash Singh died on the spot, while the three injured were rushed to a hospital and later referred to Sikar due to their critical condition.The victim’s family also alleged delay in police response. After being alerted, police reached the spot and launched a search for the accused.Tension prevailed in the area as locals staged a protest seeking swift action. Police said efforts are on to nab the accused.
