Jaipur: A 25-year-old man was abducted in broad daylight outside the Collectorate and dumped hours later near a police station after his family alerted authorities, in what police described as a revenge attack linked to a neighbourhood dispute.The victim came to stand bail for his relatives when he was chased, beaten and forced into a car by a group of men.The incident took place Sunday, and the FIR was filed Monday, and police retrieved him Tuesday.Police have identified the victim as Mahendra Kumar (25), a resident of Jaisinghpura Khor. Police said the incident stemmed from an ongoing quarrel between Kumar’s relatives and their neighbours. Two of his relatives were earlier arrested for breach of peace and were produced at the Collectorate that afternoon.Around 5.30pm, Kumar stepped out to fill a water bottle when members of the rival group followed him. What began as an argument quickly escalated.Witnesses said four to five men chased Kumar towards Gate No. 1 of the Collectorate, caught up with him, thrashed him and shoved him into a car in full public view.Inside the moving vehicle, the assault continued. As news of the abduction spread and Kumar’s family approached police, the accused panicked.On learning that a complaint had been filed and the Police Control Room was alerted, they abandoned him by the roadside outside Jaisinghpura Khor police station and fled.Banipark police registered an FIR on Saini’s complaint on Monday night and have launched a search for the accused.
