Jodhpur range IG Satyendra Singh visits border areas to review security and BSF coordination

JAISALMER: To strengthen internal security and enhance coordination between the police and the Border Security Force (BSF) in areas bordering Pakistan, Inspector General of Police (IG), Jodhpur Range, Satyendra Singh, is on a three-day visit to the border areas of Jaisalmer district. As part of the tour, the IG visited several BSF Border Out Posts (BOPs) along the international border near Tanot and Nachna on Saturday and Sunday. He held discussions with BSF officials, gathered feedback on the security situation in the border belt, and reviewed measures to further strengthen internal security. During the visit, Satyendra Singh also conducted a public hearing in the Tanot border region, where he interacted with local residents and listened to their grievances. Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare and other police officers accompanied him during the visit. According to official police sources, the IG visited BSF posts along the Indo-Pak international border adjoining Jaisalmer district and held meetings with BSF officers and SP Abhishek Shivhare. He issued specific directions regarding security management and coordination among agencies. The IG also toured border areas with BSF officials to review security arrangements and assess operational preparedness. During his visit to the border posts, he interacted with BSF personnel and boosted their morale by appreciating their dedication and service. Sources said a public hearing programme was organised at Tanot Police Station, where Community Liaison Group (CLG) members, border residents and livestock herders shared their concerns. The IG assured them that their issues would be addressed and encouraged them to actively participate in maintaining peace and security in the border region. He also emphasised the importance of education, national interest and the responsibilities of being a vigilant citizen. Residents were made aware of the dangers of drug abuse, the harmful effects of narcotics and ways to protect themselves from cybercrime. On Saturday, the IG also visited Rewala and Bahla villages near the Indo-Pak border in the Nachna region. He interacted with local villagers and addressed students and young people, motivating them to prioritise education, uphold national interest and fulfil their civic responsibilities. Awareness was also raised about de-addiction, the harmful effects of narcotic substances and cybercrime prevention. Later, the IG visited Bharewala Police Outpost, where he met the personnel deployed there and instructed them to ensure better policing, remain active in the field and focus on intelligence gathering. He subsequently visited a nearby BSF post at Bharewala, where he inspected security arrangements with BSF officials and issued necessary directions. The IG also interacted with BSF officers and jawans, commending their commitment and encouraging them in their duties.
