Jodhpur: Police here Monday claimed to have busted a gang involved in evasion of GST amounting to Rs 524 crore and arrested 7 of its members. The gang created 240 fake firms across 22 states in the country to evade the goods and services tax (GST), police said. The entire operation was carried out using fake PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, and bank accounts. The accused not only committed tax fraud through fake GST registrations but also used forged documents to carry out cyber fraud, DCP (west) Rajarshi Raj Verma said. Interrogation of the accused revealed that the gang had created fake firms in several states, through which they showed transactions in e-bills for goods.
