Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage (JMC-H) Tuesday carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Kishanbagh, located in Ward 6 under Hawa Mahal–Amer zone, and freed approximately five bighas of govt land from illegal occupation. The land, situated near Kismat Gujri’s house in Bhatta Basti, Shastri Nagar, was encroached upon for years, with unauthorised structures both temporary and permanent erected on it, officials said. The operation was led by the zone’s deputy commissioner and the vigilance team. Municipal commissioner Arun Hasija said a large team, accompanied by police force, reached the site to carry out the eviction. Mild force was used by police when some locals attempted to resist the action, he said. The move came in response to complaints by Hawa Mahal MLA Balmukundacharya, who raised the issue with JMC-H, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), and district administration. The MLA had also highlighted the matter in the state assembly and submitted formal letters requesting strict action against encroachments.
