JMC files compliance affidavit before SC in Gopalpura coaching centres matter

Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) submitted a compliance affidavit to Supreme Court Thursday, providing an update on its fire-safety enforcement actions against several coaching institutes and commercial establishments along the Gopalpura Bypass. The affidavit detailed a series of enforcement measures, including the seizure and reopening of premises, with some institutions facing repeated seizures.According to the affidavit obtained by TOI, Masala Trails Rooftop Restaurant was seized on June 12 and reopened on June 23, but its fire NOC application remains pending at the applicant level. Similarly, Kautilyaaa Classes 3, situated on Gopalpura Bypass Road near Riddhi Siddhi, was seized on June 16 and reopened after a week, only to be seized again on July 10. Its fire NOC application is also noted as pending.Senior Advocate RD Rastogi, representing petitioner 10 B Scheme Vikas Samiti, criticised the actions of JDA and JMC as “mere eyewash.” He pointed out that while some smaller coaching centres have been sealed, many larger establishments continue to operate, raising safety concerns for nearby PG hostels and residential colonies. He warned that this could lead to a potential disaster similar to the tragic incident in Delhi.Considering these concerns, All Coaching Institute Mahasangh has sought impleadment in Supreme Court proceedings. The organisation, representing over 500 coaching institutes across Rajasthan, argues for the right to address the court on the factual and legal status of the institutes operating on Gopalpura Road. In their application, they expressed a willingness to relocate to the designated Coaching Hub at Pratap Nagar but highlighted the challenges posed by the conditions set for the new premises. “The coaching institutes want to ensure their legal and fundamental rights are protected,” the application stated, indicating the need to present their concerns before the court adequately.
