JDA’s TN Mishra Marg-Ajmer Road link project stalled for nearly a year
Traffic snarl on Kings Road

Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority plans to demolish encroachments for widening New Sanganer Road, but its proposal to link parallel Pandit TN Mishra Marg with Ajmer Road has been stalled for nearly a year.Officials said JDA, in 2025, had decided to build an 800-metre sector road from Jan Path crossing to Ajmer Road. For this, it formed a team, conducted a joint inspection and, on Oct 10, sent the land-acquisition proposal to Chief Minister’s Office.“With several officials concerned with the project transferred in the preceding months, including the commissioner in Dec, the project did not make any headway in the last 12 months. If this road had been constructed, traffic pressure on New Sanganer Road and especially on Kings Road would have reduced,” a JDA official said.Advocate Anmol Devanda, a Padmavati Colony resident on TN Mishra Marg, said the Master Plan 2025 envisaged the 160-foot-wide road as a direct connector between Ajmer Road and the stretch between Mansarovar and New Atish Market metro stations. At present, the road runs for only about 2 km and ends at the T-point with Jan Path.

“For years, JDA has failed to clear a few encroachments, most of them private barren or farmland parcels, and construct the remaining 800 metres. A huge population in Mansarovar now depends only on Kings Road, which is just 80 feet wide, to reach Ajmer Road,” he said, stating he would raise the issue with the JDA commissioner. The encroachments cited in a UDH department’s notification issued on April 9, 2012, include three to four privately owned buildings and two farm parcels linked to the owners of Dhurlavjai Hospital and the Kolkata-based Surana family. “That 2012 order had directed JDA to clear encroachments and complete the remaining stretch,” Devanda said.Shopkeepers and residents said evening snarls on Kings Road have become routine, hurting businesses. “Many colonies between TN Mishra Marg and Kings Road shut their gates by 6 pm. Some deploy guards to allow only residents’ vehicles during rush hour,” said Jagdish Jaiswal, an RWA president.
