Kota: In a diabolic crime, a woman and her live-in partner allegedly strangled her four-year-old daughter in Jaipur’s Muhana area and later hid the body at the man’s family home in Baran district.Police on Sunday arrested the accused, identified as Mahaveer Bairwa, after the child’s body was found inside a cupboard at his family home in Jaitpura village, under Bhanwargarh police station limits in Baran. The body of the girl, Ishika, was discovered wrapped in a plastic sack and concealed inside an iron almirah. The matter came to light when Mahaveer’s father, Jai Ram, alerted the Baran police after noticing a foul smell coming from the cupboard. He opened it on Saturday morning and found the body, with blood and fluids seeping from the bag.Jai Ram informed the police that Mahaveer, who works as a labourer in Jaipur’s Muhana area, had moved in about seven months ago with Roshan Bai, a native of Tonk. “Roshan was earlier married to a man named Ravindra, and Ishika was her daughter from that marriage,” said a Jaipur police official. According to the preliminary investigation, a scuffle broke out between Mahaveer and Roshan on the evening of May 29, during which the child was allegedly strangled.Mahaveer is believed to have packed the body in a plastic sack and taken it on May 30 to his paternal house in Baran, where he hid it in the almirah before fleeing.“Based on Jai Ram’s statement, a zero FIR for murder has been registered against Mahaveer and Roshan at Bhanwargarh police station. The Muhana police in Jaipur have been informed,” said an officer. A team from Jaipur was dispatched to Baran to take Mahaveer into custody. Police said Roshan Bai will also be arrested soon.Officials said Mahaveer has a criminal background. He has served an eight-year sentence for murder and was later jailed again in another murder case. He was out on bail for the past year.Jai Ram also told police that Mahaveer returned to their Baran home on May 30 under the influence of alcohol, created a scene, and then left.
