Jaipur: Jaipur Metro’s proposed Line 2 may get a 37th station, with Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation considering an additional stop at Taroon Ki Khoot on Tonk Road, between the planned Jaipur Airport and B2 Bypass stations.The corridor was earlier planned with 36 stations, and construction is already on. Officials said the proposal came after revised passenger estimates indicated strong demand from upcoming developments near the site, including Unity Mall and Rajasthan Mandapam.JMRC chairperson and managing director Vaibhav Galriya confirmed that the idea is being examined, but said a final decision has not been taken.Rajasthan Mandapam, planned near Jaipur International Airport along B2-Bypass, is envisaged as a major convention and exhibition centre on the lines of Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. Unity Mall, also known as PM Ekta Mall, is being developed by RIICO at Dol ka Badh near B2-Bypass on Tonk Road.Line 2 will connect Prahladpura in Sanganer with Todi Mod on Sikar Road and will be built in three packages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already laid the foundation stone for the project.“We are going to issue work orders for the second package this month and the third package in Nov. By Nov-end, construction work on the entire Line 2 stretch will continue simultaneously,” Galriya said.The additional station, if materialised, will be on the underground airport-B2B Crossing stretch.
