Jaipur: The Jaipur District Powerlifting Association held its elections here on Sunday at the Belleta Resort in Mangyawas. The elections were held in the presence of Giriraj Khandelwal, president of the Jaipur District Olympic Association, Ashish Kumar, president of Rajasthan Powerlifting Association, and election officer Ramgopal Swami. International softball player Rahul Tanwar was also present on the occasion.During the election process, officers were elected unopposed to all positions. In the newly elected executive committee, Satyendra Singh Rathore was elected president, Ashwani Khandelwal was elected secretary, and Pawan Kumawat was elected treasurer.Apart from this, Mahesh Kumar Khandelwal was elected as chief patron, Lalchand Gupta as patron and Dharam Singh Gurjar, Pradeep Verma and Lokesh Prajapat were elected as vice presidents.Neetu Chauhan and Mukesh Kumar were declared elected unopposed as joint secretaries and Sharad Sharma, Akshay Kumar and Manoj Singh Chauhan were declared elected unopposed as members.It is our collective responsibility to nurture sports talent: Giriraj KhandelwalOn this occasion, Jaipur District Olympic Association president Giriraj Khandelwal congratulated the newly elected office bearers and said that Jaipur athletes have immense talent in sports like powerlifting. What is needed is to provide these talents with better training, facilities, and a proper platform.He said that the new executive committee should not limit sports to competitions alone, but should instead work on identifying and developing talent at the grassroots level. More district-level competitions should be held, ensuring equal opportunities for emerging athletes from rural and urban areas.Khandelwal said that the unopposed election is a testament to the mutual trust and unity among the entire executive committee. Congratulating the newly-elected president Satyendra Singh Rathore, secretary Ashwani Khandelwal, treasurer Pawan Kumawat, and the entire executive committee, he said that the Jaipur District Olympic Association will always be ready to provide all possible support to the district’s sports organisations and athletes.He expressed confidence that during its tenure, the new executive will do important work towards giving a new identity to Jaipur in the field of powerlifting as well as preparing national and international level players.
