Jaisalmer: Three people, including a groom returning from his second wedding, were killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident near Basanpir village late Tuesday night. The victims were travelling from Pokhran to Jaisalmer when their car was hit by an unidentified vehicle around midnight, about 20 km from the district headquarters. The deceased have been identified as groom Leelaram (45), his sister Mooli Devi (35), and a 9-month-old infant, Hitesh. The injured — Ashok, Hemlata, bride Basanti (40), and Pukhraj — were rushed to Jawahir Hospital and later referred to Jodhpur for treatment.Head constable Jaswant Singh of Sadar police station said the group was returning from Pokhran after Leelaram and Basanti’s second marriage when the accident occurred. The car, driven by Pukhraj, a relative of the bride, carried seven people, including the newlyweds and family members.Police are searching for the vehicle involved. As news spread, members of the Od community gathered at Jawahir Hospital, demanding strict action against the accused and compensation for the victims’ families.
