Jaipur: With Covid-19 cases resurfacing in the state, the health department has issued directions to its officials in all districts to review hospital preparedness at the district and sub-district levels, as well as in medical colleges and all other inpatient care facilities. Hospitals and health care facilities have been asked to ensure availability of diagnostics, essential drugs, isolation beds, medical oxygen, ICU, and ventilator-supported beds.“We have received the genome sequencing report from Pune and found that two variants circulating in the state are not the strains of concern and interest, but they are categorised as strains of monitoring. Currently, we have found that the symptoms are mild. But, we are taking precautions. We directed officials to ensure preparedness for treatment and management of Covid-19,” a senior health department official told TOI.Health department also directed officials to conduct mock drills to ensure functionality of oxygen plants and overall oxygen preparedness. Govt will create awareness on promoting community observance of hand and respiratory hygiene, and hygienic behaviour such as cough etiquette (covering mouth or nose during coughing or sneezing) and no spitting in public places.Govt will also monitor health of vulnerable people such as the elderly, people with comorbidities, and those with immune-deficiency status. They may be advised to avoid poorly ventilated or crowded places.
