Four brothers killed in Balotra road accident

TNNJaisalmer: Four brothers died Tuesday in a road accident in the Patodi area of Balotra district when their car collided with a Rajasthan Roadways bus, police said. Balotra SP Ramesh Kumar said police reached the spot after receiving information and began rescue operations. Two brothers were declared dead by doctors, while the other two, who were critically injured, were given primary aid and referred to Nahta Hospital in Balotra. They died while being taken to the hospital.Police said the brothers had left home for work and were travelling toward Kaleva village when the accident occurred. The impact was so severe that a motorcycle parked on the roadside was also crushed under the bus. Villagers said the car was completely mangled and they used iron tools to pry open the doors to pull out the occupants. The bodies were sent to the mortuary at Patodi hospital.The deceased were identified by their cousin, Gopal Meghwal, as Udaram Meghwal (39), Rekharam (35), Jogaram (31) and Vishnaram Meghwal (29). He said they worked in house construction and usually travelled separately, but went together this time as the work site was in the same village.After the incident, villagers and relatives blocked the Patodi road with stones and bushes, demanding the driver’s arrest and compensation for the family. Police later held talks and the road was cleared.Family members and villagers then staged a dharna outside the Patodi Community Health Centre. Barmer MP Ummeda Ram Beniwal, Baytu MLA Harish Choudhary, former Siwana MLA Goparam Meghwal, RLP leader Than Singh Doli and other local representatives reached the site, while police remained present and continued discussions with the family.
