Jaipur: Newly registered and first-time voters were unable to cast their ballots Friday after their names were missing from electoral rolls, despite having voter IDs and EPIC numbers. Voters alleged that officials were using outdated lists, raising concerns over the updating of rolls.At Central Academy polling booths in Ward 16, first-time voters found their names missing. Nikita Kalra, 19, said she had completed registration six-seven months ago and received her voter ID, but could not vote. Her mother, Manju Kalra, said BLO Anuradha Rathore could not explain why Nikita’s name was absent.In Ward 31, 18-year-old Yashashvani Rathore found her name missing at DAV Centenary Public School despite completing enrolment and receiving her voter ID. “No official was ready to shoulder responsibility or provide answers. There are multiple such cases in my society and neighbourhood,” her mother Om Kanwar said.Khushagra Rawal, 20, from Vaishali Nagar’s Pratap Nagar, could not vote. His father, Jitin Rawal, said his son had a voter ID but was not issued a slip and his name was missing from the electoral roll.The cases raised questions over updating electoral rolls and inclusion of newly registered voters.
