Bhilwara: A 70-year-old woman was found dead and dismembered in a forested area near Lavadar village in Tonk district, with her body parts packed in four plastic sacks, police said Friday.The body was discovered late Thursday night after villagers alerted police about a foul smell coming from sacks lying near a roadside dumping site. Preliminary investigations suggest the woman was murdered and her body was cut into pieces, apparently to conceal her identity.The police identified the deceased as Harbai, originally from Agra in Uttar Pradesh. She had been living in Lavadar village for over two decades, police said.According to police, Harbai had been missing for the past three to four days. She lived with her brother, Uda Lal Gurjar, in the village. Her son had died earlier, while her daughter is married and lives in Ghas village.Villager Parshuram Meena told police he had noticed the sacks near the site for the past two days. Suspecting something was wrong after a strong odour emerged, he informed authorities.Tonk deputy superintendent of police Mrityunjay Mishra said the body was recovered in a dismembered condition, and an investigation is underway.Mehndwas SHO Ramnivas Yadav said police are questioning family members and others acquainted with the victim to establish the circumstances leading to her death. The site where the body was found is commonly used for dumping garbage and animal carcasses, he added.
