Ajmer: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has issued a warning to e-mitra operators across the state, urging them to refrain from submitting job applications for ineligible candidates merely for financial gain. The commission has threatened to recommend revoking licenses and pursue legal action against those found engaging in such malpractices.RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta said Friday that several e-mitras have been deliberately misleading candidates by submitting applications for positions they are not qualified for, primarily to generate additional income through application fees. “This unethical practice must stop immediately,” Mehta said during a press briefing. The commission has discovered that some e-mitras are taking advantage of regular customers’ trust by filing applications without verifying their eligibility for advertised positions. Many candidates remain unaware that their applications don’t meet the basic qualification criteria. This has led to a significant increase in the number of applications submitted, while actual attendance during the exams remains alarmingly low. According to RPSC officials, exam attendance rates have plummeted below 50 percent in the past year, with some examinations recording attendance as low as 14-18 percent.“The RPSC prepares for examination centres, security measures, printing of question papers, and deploying invigilators based on the number of applicants. However, this planning is rendered futile when the attendance is so low,” said an official source. In response to the growing concern, RPSC recently implemented new penalties for candidates who repeatedly fail to appear for examinations after submitting applications. “Candidates who miss two examinations within a year will face penalties,” confirmed an RPSC official. The commission emphasised that these measures were necessary to ensure fair recruitment processes and efficient use of public resources. The RPSC has urged both candidates and e-mitras to exercise caution and verify eligibility before submitting applications, emphasising that misleading practices will not be tolerated.
