Jaipur: A mishap was averted Thursday after cracks developed on a road near the power station at Hawa Sadak, leading to a cave-in-like situation. However, police present in the area promptly informed the traffic control room to prevent any untoward incidents.On Thursday evening, two-wheeler riders crossing the area complained that the sudden ditch on the road imbalanced vehicles.Acting swiftly, a police barricade was placed directly over the damaged part of the road so that vehicles avoid the area and navigate carefully around the spot.An area supervisor from JDA also arrived at the spot and took immediate action to handle the situation.“The structural failure was not a routine surface issue but stemmed from a deeper utility defect underneath the tarmac. This problem on the road occurs due to the problem of leakage in pipes underneath. We will check the pipelines and ensure that traffic movement does not get affected,” said an official from JDA.The official added that steps are being taken to resolve the underground leakage issue before the cracked road surface is repaired for safe vehicular movement.
