Cops expand drive to identify illegal Bangladeshi nationals

Jaipur: Rajasthan Police has widened its drive to identify Bangladeshi nationals allegedly living illegally in the state, extending checks beyond residential areas to construction sites, brick kilns, factories, industrial units, hotels, roadside eateries and labour hubs.Sources said previous drives had failed to achieve the desired reach for various reasons, including local body elections during the last campaign.Under the fresh directive, districts must submit weekly reports detailing the number of people verified, suspicious cases identified and individuals whose documents or legal status require scrutiny. They must also record the locations covered and cases investigated. The reports will help police headquarters assess the scale of the exercise and identify gaps in coverage that may explain why the earlier campaign reported fewer detections.
