Jaipur: A 37-year-old contract worker with the electricity department died of electrocution during a repair job in Vaishali Nagar Tuesday afternoon. His family alleged negligence by the department, claiming he was made to work without supervision or proper safety gear. The deceased, identified as Vivekanand Singh, a resident of Shyam Nagar, was reportedly sent to attend a complaint around 1:30pm in Amar Nagar on Tuesday. He was accompanied only by a junior helper and not a qualified lineman or senior official. “The victim reportedly climbed the pole after cutting the power, but a live wire or misidentified phase led to his electrocution,” said a police officer.
