Cong councillors rap JMC-G over poor monsoon planning

Jaipur: Congress councillors staged a sit-in protest at the Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater (JMC-G) headquarters Thursday, accusing the civic body of poor planning and tokenism amid the ongoing monsoon. The trigger was the late distribution of bird water pots to all 150 wards—two days after rains had already begun—an act councillors called “symbolic” and “pointless.”Protesting councillors placed the unused pots at the entrance of the headquarters, demanding real upkeep over hollow gestures. Leader of opposition Rajiv Chaudhary lambasted the civic body’s timing, calling it a “classic case of insensitivity and paperwork-driven governance.” He added, “Where was the corporation when birds were dying of thirst during peak summer?”Taking a swipe at JMC-G mayor Somya Gurjar, Chaudhary said, “While councillors are struggling to get basic civic work done, the mayor is on a foreign tour, completely disconnected from Jaipur’s problems.” A memorandum was submitted to JMC-G commissioner Gaurav Saini, demanding urgent action.
