Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested three Karnataka Police personnel who were in the city for an investigation after allegedly catching one of them red-handed Sunday while receiving a bribe of Rs 40,000 to weaken a dowry harassment case. The arrested personnel were identified as sub-inspector Anitha K and head constables Ulavappa and Yatish, all posted at the HAL Police Station in Bengaluru. ACB officials said they had demanded Rs 2 lakh from a Jaipur resident in exchange for relief to his family members in the case.Sources in the ACB said the original complainant is a resident of Bengaluru, who married a Jaipur-based man in May 2025. In Feb 2026, she filed an FIR in Bengaluru accusing her husband and his family members of harassing her for dowry. The three Karnataka police personnel had travelled to Jaipur to investigate the case, and, according to the ACB, pressured the husband’s family to pay Rs 2 lakh as a bribe. The husband’s father approached the ACB and complained that Karnataka police head constable Ulavappa was calling him repeatedly for a meeting at a city hotel to discuss the payment. After verifying the complaint and finding the demand for Rs 2 lakh to be genuine, the ACB asked the family member to arrange the money and set a trap at a hotel in the city’s Vidhayakpuri area.A team led by Additional SP Bhupendra allegedly caught Ulavappa red-handed Sunday while accepting Rs 40,000 as part payment of the Rs 2 lakh bribe, the ACB said.SI Anitha K and head constable Yatish were questioned and subsequently placed under arrest after investigators found evidence of their involvement in the bribery.SI Anitha’s health deteriorated during initial questioning and she was provided medical assistance owing to high blood pressure, ACB officials said.A case will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and all three accused remain under interrogation.
