Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Sunday arrested Sambhar Lake SHO Ramilan Meena for allegedly accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe from a contractor at his office.The contractor had approached the ACB headquarters, alleging that Meena was demanding money to allow a PWD road construction project in the Sambhar area to continue without police interference.According to ACB DG Govind Gupta, the contractor’s firm, registered in his father’s name, had been awarded the road construction project. The contractor alleged that Meena demanded Rs 20,000 every month and that workers and vehicles at the construction site were taken to the police station and harassed when payment was not made.An ACB team led by Additional SP Bhupendra verified the alleged demand. During verification, the team confirmed a demand of Rs 50,000, allegedly calculated at Rs 10,000 per month. The team then sent the contractor to Meena with the money.The SHO was allegedly caught accepting the cash in his room on the police station premises Sunday afternoon.The ACB has launched searches at Meena’s office, the police station quarters, and his residence in Jagatpura, Jaipur. He is being questioned as part of the investigation.
