Court stays arrest of 4 accused in Bhilwara policeman hit-and-run case

Bhilwara: The principal seat of Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur Tuesday granted a stay on the arrest of four accused who allegedly ran over a head constable at a police barricade in Bhilwara earlier this month. A fifth accused is already in custody.Police said the incident in question happened around 12.30am on the night of Oct 16, when an SUV with five people inside broke through a barricade outside Pratap Nagar police station and ran over head constable Pramod Kumar Yadav, leaving him with a fractured leg. A case was registered in this connection and one Sahil, a resident of Sawa Nai Abadi of Chittorgarh district, was arrested. Police said a gun was recovered from his possession.The four others named in the case are Mohammad Hatim, who police identified as the driver of the car based on CCTV footage, Mohammad Afzal Khan, Sohail Khan and Balram Singh Rathore. Bhilwara police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 each for information leading to their arrest. Hearing a petition filed on behalf of these four accused, the court stayed their arrest until the next date of hearing, which has been scheduled after three weeks.
