Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court Wednesday refused to extend Asaram’s interim bail. His interim bail term will expire on Aug 29. The court rejected the plea for an extension of interim bail based on the medical report received from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.A division bench of Justice Dinesh Mehta and Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur said, according to the medical report, Asaram’s health condition is not so serious as to warrant an extension of his interim bail. The court came to this conclusion based on the medical report from the doctors of the govt hospital in Ahmedabad, which was submitted in the court Wednesday. However, the court allowed him the facility of a wheelchair and an attendant in jail and permitted that, if required, he may be examined at AIIMS Jodhpur. With this rejection, Asaram will have to surrender to the Jodhpur jail on Aug 30. The last extension was granted based on the medical report submitted by Asaram stating his condition to be critical with a lurking threat to his heart. With this extension, the court directed the formation of a panel of doctors from the govt hospital in Ahmedabad for a detailed checkup of his health, which would comprise a cardiologist and a neurologist. This report, ascertaining his medical condition, was to be submitted in the court on Wednesday.Meanwhile, Asaram has been granted bail by the Gujarat High Court till Sept 3 on medical grounds. On Aug 19, the Gujarat High Court ordered that, since he is currently admitted to the ICU and his medical report shows a critical condition, his temporary bail be extended till Sept 3, 2025.
