Jaipur: City police Sunday said that a 40-year-old woman who mowed down a 64-year-old retired Army Captain cycling to Chitrakoot Stadium Friday was granted bail. Police said the woman was identified as Surbhi Chechani, owner of the vehicle which hit the victim, Narsa Ram. “Her car has been seized. The statements could not be recorded in the case as the grieving family needs some time. A spot verification of the scene will take place soon,” said an official. Ram, who was on his morning walk Friday, was killed after the speeding SUV ran him over. Police registered an FIR and launched a search for the vehicle and the driver.Ram, a resident of Maa Vaishnav Nagar, Gandhi Path, died in the accident. Around 5:30 am, he set out on his bicycle for his routine walk to Chitrakoot Stadium. The accident took place on Gandhi Path. His son, who was walking a short distance behind, rushed to his father’s aid. With the help of passersby, he took him to SMS Hospital. Doctors declared him dead during treatment. The accident was captured on the CCTV of a nearby shop.
