Jhunjhunu: Twenty-seven members of a wedding party were injured when their overloaded jeep collided with a tree and overturned near Nakrasar village in Churu district Wednesday. The family, comprising about 40 people from Sriganganagar, was en route to a wedding in Kangad village, Ratangarh, after hiring a jeep from Churu railway station.
The accident occurred when the driver, allegedly speeding and driving carelessly, lost control of the vehicle. Following the crash, local villagers responded to cries for help and transported the injured to Govt Bharatiya Hospital, Churu, in private vehicles.
Doctors treated the injured in the emergency ward, and all were discharged after receiving medical care. Vikas, one of the injured, said the family was heading to their aunt’s home for the wedding. The driver fled the scene after the accident. Police are investigating the matter.
