Jaipur: With Bhajan Lal Sharma govt set to complete three years in office on Dec 15, it is preparing a report card highlighting its achievements in investment, employment, education, infrastructure and economic growth, while seeking to counter Congress’s criticism of its performance. The govt plans to project the fulfilment of nearly 78% of the promises made in BJP’s election manifesto as one of its key achievements. An improvement in the gross enrolment ratio (GER) at the secondary and higher secondary levels is also expected to figure prominently, as the govt looks to showcase progress in education.“The idea is to put measurable achievements before the people rather than restrict the celebrations to announcements and foundation stones. Departments have been asked to identify projects that have translated into actual benefits for people,” said a senior govt functionary.Investment and economic growth are likely to be other major pillars of the presentation. The govt plans to highlight progress under Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, at which MoUs worth Rs 35 lakh crore were signed. CM Sharma has claimed that proposals worth Rs 9 lakh crore have moved to the implementation stage. The govt also intends to highlight the rise in per capita income, which Sharma said had increased from Rs 1.34 lakh during the previous Congress govt’s tenure to Rs 2.05 lakh.“The focus will be on demonstrating how Rajasthan is moving from investment commitments to implementation. The Gujarat model of industrial development and infrastructure creation is also likely to figure in the govt’s comparative narrative,” said another source familiar with the preparations.Employment generation will be another key component. Sharma has cited more than 1.93 lakh govt appointments, recruitment for 1.18 lakh posts underway and employment opportunities for five lakh people in the private sector. The govt will also showcase initiatives in water and energy security, including Ramjal Setu Link Project, the Yamuna water agreement and Rajasthan’s installed solar power capacity of 51.6 GW. Women’s welfare, farmer assistance and rural infrastructure development are also expected to feature in the report card.
