Jaipur: A 51-year-old man lost around ₹4.4 lakh after allegedly clicking on a fake e-challan payment link sent to his mobile phone, police said. The victim, a resident of Nangal Jaisa, lodged an FIR at Khorabisal police station under the IT Act Sunday.According to the police, the man identified as Sunil Kumar Tailor had received a message about a traffic challan on Oct 21.“Expecting it to be a genuine message, he first enquired with his son whether he had been issued a challan while he had taken the car out some days ago,, but his son refused. However, traffic police had stopped his son that same day. This made the family assume that the link they have received could be genuine due to which they have got this e-challan, That’s how Tailor clicked on the link to check the details and made the payment,” said Surindra Singh, SHO of Khora Bisal police station. On the evening of Oct 23, Tailor was shocked after noticing that around ₹4.10 lakh was withdrawn from his bank account. Another ₹30,000 was subsequently debited from his Bank of India credit card. “Initially he approached the bank authorities than finally registering an FIR on Sunday,” Singh added.Police have registered an FIR and initiated a probe.
