ACS Rajesh Yadav holds review meeting, Friday

Jaipur: Following a recent incident of roof plaster falling in a Jaipur govt school and a classroom roof collapse during construction in Kota, additional chief secretary (school education) Rajesh Yadav Friday directed officials to speed up school construction and repair work. He stressed that quality standards must be followed. At a meeting in Shiksha Sankul, Yadav directed the officials to conduct divisional review meetings next week, with assistant engineers from all districts required to attend in person. The meetings will focus on pending and stalled projects, identify bottlenecks and resolve issues delaying completion. The directions come after roof plaster fell in a classroom at Govt Varishtha Upadhyay Sanskrit School in Nangal Bela village, Jaipur, on Oct 7. In another incident on Thursday, the roof of a classroom collapsed during construction at a school in Chandrawala village in Sultanpur, Kota district.Yadav also instructed engineers associated with Samagra Shiksha, the education department’s wing that handles repairs and renovations of buildings, to regularly inspect construction work in schools by various agencies, including CSR activities. This will ensure monitoring of all construction work in schools.
