Bhilwara: The search for two children who went missing from the Bada Mandir area of Bhilwara city Sunday afternoon ended in tragedy Tuesday evening after their bodies were recovered from Kothari river near Paldi village.The deceased were identified as Divyanshu Soni and Rajat Jat, both around 10 years old.Bhilwara SP Sagar Rana said a preliminary investigation suggests three friends had left home together Sunday. When two of them did not return, their families informed police late Sunday night.Police formed multiple teams and scanned CCTV footage, which showed the three boys riding a bicycle towards Kothari river area near Paldi village, around 5 km from Bhilwara. On Tuesday, after questioning the third boy, Shaurya, who had returned home, police reached the riverbank and found the clothes and slippers of the two children there.Police suspect one child entered the river to bathe and slipped into deeper water. The second child entered the river to rescue him, but both drowned. Shaurya attempted to help but, as he failed to save his friends, he hurried home without informing anyone due to fear, police said.Both bodies were found during the search Tuesday evening. Police said they were investigating the case from all angles following the families’ demand for a thorough probe. Post-mortem examinations are scheduled for Wednesday morning.Family members even protested outside the post-mortem room, demanding compensation and a govt job. The situation was later brought under control after police intervention.
