Bhilwara: Unidentified persons smothered a 65-year-old widow in Hattipura village of Chittorgarh district late Monday night. Police said that prima facie, it seems the crime was committed with an intention to loot. Jamna Bai’s gold ornaments that she was wearing around her neck were found missing. A forensic team collected evidence from the crime scene. The body was sent for post-mortem Tuesday afternoon and later handed over to the family.Chittorgarh SP Dharmendra Singh said that Jamna Bai lived alone. On Tuesday morning, her neighbours saw the house door open and called out to her. They entered her house on getting no response and found her lying on the cot. She was unresponsive; hence, her relatives were called. The belongings in the room were scattered. Police found no injury marks on Jamna Bai’s body, but they suspect that she was throttled.
