Bajaj Nagar SHO transferred amid watch heist, protest over hotel death

Jaipur: The city police commissioner Friday ordered Bajaj Nagar SHO Ram Dhan’s transfer, which comes a day after a multi-crore watch showroom heist and amid a protest by the family of a man found dead in a hotel.

Khichi was found dead inside a hotel near Gandhi Nagar railway station Wednesday. While his family alleged that he was murdered, police maintained that he died by suicide and said they had recovered an alleged suicide note.

Police officials said Dhan was transferred on “administrative” grounds, including issues related to his performance. The transfer came as family members of a person identified as Prem Prakash Khichi protested outside Bajaj Nagar police station Friday, blocking traffic and demanding justice. Khichi was found dead inside a hotel near Gandhi Nagar railway station Wednesday. While his family alleged that he was murdered, police maintained that he died by suicide and said they had recovered an alleged suicide note.

The SHO was also transferred a day after burglars broke into a watch showroom on Tonk Road and fled with watches worth Rs 2.5 crore in the early hours of Thursday.
