Jaipur: Rajasthan Medical College Teachers Association (RMCTA), Jaipur, has urged the state govt to immediately halt tenure extensions on administrative posts at SMS Medical College and appoint senior, eligible faculty members to vacant positions. In a representation submitted to govt, the association said five Additional Principals are currently posted at SMS Medical College, Jaipur. Among them, one is serving as Superintendent of SMS Hospital, while two others have already completed their tenure. The association also noted that one Additional Principal had earlier been granted an extension.RMCTA president Dr Dhiraj Jeph said RMCTA has consistently opposed tenure extensions on any administrative post, calling the practice unfair to senior faculty members waiting for opportunities. The association argued that repeated extensions block career progression and deny institutions the benefit of fresh ideas, new initiatives and administrative reforms. The teachers’ body requested govt to take an immediate and fair decision by ending the practice of tenure extensions and filling vacant posts with qualified senior faculty members.
