Jaipur: Rajasthan’s promising shuttlers Vayam Lamba, Shreyansh Chaudhary and Satwik Agarwal will be vying for medals in the Yonex Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (Under-15 and Under-17) Ranking Badminton tournament to be held from October 1 to 9 here at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.Rajasthan Badminton Association vice-president Manoj Dasot said that in the Under-15 boys’ singles and doubles category, Vayam Lamba and Shreyansh Chaudhary will be competing in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, while Satwik Agarwal will vie for top honours in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.In the girls’ category of the same age group, Lakshita Bhardwaj and Padmaja Singh will also play in the main draw.In the Under-17 boys’ singles and mixed doubles category, Anshuman Chaudhary, Harman Pandit and Kandarp Sharma in boys’ doubles, Kandarp Sharma and Deshna Jain in mixed doubles, and Ritika Jhamnani in girls’ singles will also be playing in the main draw.Manoj Dasot stated that the tournament’s chief referee, Habib Rahman of Kerala, arrived in Jaipur on Tuesday and reviewed preparations in the afternoon. He was accompanied by Rajasthan Badminton Association and organizing secretary KK Sharma, Badminton Asia referee Rajiv Mehta, Badminton Association of India referee Lokesh Soni, national-level referee Trilok Shukla, national-level referee Chandrakant Sharma, and Grade-1 umpire Vineet Sharma.
Qualifying draws for the All India Sub-Junior (U-15 & U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament to be held on Sept 30 in Jaipur
The chief referee stated that the draw for the qualifying matches will be held at 5pm on Wednesday, and the seedings will also be released. He stated that approximately 1,800 players are participating in the tournament, and 32 players will advance to the main draw from the qualifying rounds. He stated that 30 seeded players in singles across both age groups and 32 players from the qualifying rounds will play in the main draw. Two entries will be from the host state. Similarly, there will be a draw of 32 for the doubles competition, which will include 15 seeded pairs, 16 pairs entering the main draw from the qualifying rounds, and one wild card entry.
