Jaipur: State Election Commission Tuesday lifted the model code of conduct with immediate effect in 304 urban local bodies where the election process has been completed. However, the code will remain in force in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota municipal corporations, along with Suket and Khatu Shyamji municipalities, as elections are still underway there.The commission had announced the election schedule for 309 urban local bodies across 41 districts on Aug 19, following which the model code came into force in the respective areas. According to the commission, the election process for all posts in the remaining 304 bodies was completed Tuesday.The commission also said restrictions on the relieving and joining of officers and employees would continue across all districts, as general elections to Panchayati Raj institutions are scheduled to be held soon.The model code in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Suket and Khatu Shyamji will remain in force until further orders.
