Jaipur: A trainee sub-inspector (SI) was arrested Friday from the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) in Jaipur for allegedly clearing the sub-inspector recruitment exam using a leaked question paper. The special operations group (SOG) took Vijendra Kumar Joshi, 30, into custody from the Intelligence Training Academy at RPA after his name surfaced during the ongoing investigation into the 2021 SI paper leak case. He was presented in court Saturday.A senior SOG officer said that Joshi, a resident of Balara village in Sikar district, had seen the leaked paper before taking the exam. He was undergoing intelligence training at the RPA when SOG officials detained him.His arrest followed the earlier detention of three other govt employees — Purushottam Dadhich, 35; Sandeep Kumar Lata, 43; and Kundan Kumar Pandya, 54 — who allegedly helped to distribute the leaked papers. During their questioning, they revealed Joshi’s involvement, leading SOG to act.Joshi has been sent to police custody till June 9. On Thursday, the agency arrested Dadhich and Lata, both assistant accounts officers, and Pandya, a Grade III teacher, for their role in distributing the leaked question papers. Dadhich was suspended earlier by the medical and health dept in Udaipur. Lata was posted with the treasury and accounts dept in Jaipur, while Pandya served at a govt primary school in Palwada, Dungarpur.According to officials, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babu Lal Katara, who was previously arrested in the case, allegedly gave six sets of the exam paper to fellow commission member Ramu Ram Raika. These papers were later passed on to Dadhich, who is believed to have circulated them weeks before the Sept 2021 exam in exchange for money.Initial findings suggested that Katara leaked the papers for Raika’s children — Devesh and Shobha — who were both arrested during their SI training in Jaipur. But investigators now believe that the scam was a commercially driven operation, with the leaked papers sold to multiple candidates. The SOG suspects Katara and Dadhich to have become associated during the former’s posting in Udaipur.
