Jaipur: Additional chief secretary, school education, Rajesh Yadav Monday directed officials to ensure that there is no compromise on the quality of new school buildings being constructed across the state. He said action would be taken against officials if any negligence was found during inspections.Construction is currently underway for around 290 new school buildings, 599 major repair projects and 2,099 classrooms across the state.Yadav ordered the immediate suspension of a junior engineer after finding prima facie evidence of serious negligence in the technical supervision of ongoing construction work at Govt Higher Secondary School in Koni, Nagaur.At a meeting, officials said that against works worth Rs 2,021.25cr proposed for 2026-27, projects worth around Rs 3,037.21cr have already been sanctioned under various schemes and convergence initiatives. These include 1,293 new school buildings, 5,348 major repair projects and 9,334 new or additional classrooms.Yadav also directed officials to ensure the construction of adequate and accessible toilets in all schools as per prescribed norms. He said pending construction works should be completed on priority.District- and block-level officials were directed to personally conduct intensive inspections of schools, particularly in rural areas.GFX
