Jaipur: Sneha Lamba, Poonam Swami, Suhasi Verma and Tanishka Singh stormed into the women’s singles pre-quarterfinals in the Rajasthan State Ranking Badminton Championship being held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium Indoor Badminton Hall here on Sunday.Top seed Sneha Lamba thrashed Kirti Sharma of Hanumangarh quite easily 15-3, 15-2, while Poonam Swami of Bikaner got a walkover from Himanshi Sharma. Suhasi Verma, who has played for the Indian team, rallied back splendidly to oust Sangam of Kota 5-15, 15-10, 15-7 in three tough games, while Tanishka Singh of Rajsamand prevailed over Sakshi Singh of Jodhpur 15-5, 15-4.According to the organising secretary Atul Gupta, a unique initiative was seen today. The chairperson of Rajasthan State Sports Council Praveen Gupta directly interacted with the players, parents and coaches.
In the match that followed, in mixed doubles, Jaipur pair Aryan Tyagi and Utsava Palet edged past Bikaner’s Bhuvnesh Ojha and Poonam Swami in three games 15-10, 13-15, 15-9.In the Under-19 boys singles, second seed Bhanu Pratap of Jaipur outclassed Jayesh Gurjar of Rajsamand 15-7, 15-5. Third seed Amber Chandravanshi of Jaipur dismissed Riddhiman Chauhan of Udaipur 15-11, 15-12, while Nidish of Udaipur got the better of Faizan Khan of Rajsamand 15-8, 15-12 and entered the next round.In the men’s doubles, top seeded pair of Aryan Tyagi and Murali Sharma had no problem in sidelining Udaipur’s pair Manav Shri Mali and Rajat Rathore 15-12, 15-11.Top seeded pair of Udaipur Mantra Agarwal and Nidish of Udaipur beat Jaipur’s Bhavesh and Dashil Nair 15-9, 15-11 in the U-19 boys doubles.In the men’s doubles, Jaipur’s duo Bhanu Pratap and Kartik Jain overpowered Jodhpur’s Nikhil Sharma and Vivek 15-5, 15-13.In the U-19 girls doubles, top seeded pair of Jodhpur Mokshita Bhardwaj and Tanishka Yadav accounted for Aaradhya Bishnoi and Karaya Arya of Jaipur in easy games 15-3, 15-4.Second seeded pair Kavya Swami-Cyril Chaudhary of Bikaner dismissed Paridhi and Yosa of Udaipur 15-5, 15-6.The Rajasthan Badminton Association secretary KK Sharma, treasurer Zakir Hussain, chairperson of disciplinary committee Vijay Singh, patron of Jaipur District Badminton Association Rajeev Nagori and social worker Sanjeev Tiwari were the special guests on Day 4.The Rajasthan Badminton Association vice president Manoj Dasot and all the special guests interacted with the players.Unique initiativeRajasthan State Sports Council chairperson Praveen Gupta interacted directly with players, parents and coaches.

During the Rajasthan State Open Ranking Badminton tournament, Rajasthan State Sports Council chairperson Praveen Gupta took a commendable and inspiring initiative, touring the badminton hall at Sawai Mansingh Stadium for approximately an hour. During this time, he personally met with players, their parents, and coaches, listening to their problems, suggestions, and experiences in detail.Praveen Gupta congratulated the winning players for their excellent performance, while encouraging the losing players and motivating them to perform even better in the future. He inquired from the parents about their children’s regular practice, their interest in sports, and the sports facilities available in their home districts.He also spoke with coaches from various districts to learn about the type of training they provide to their athletes and what facilities they feel are needed to improve the level of sports. He listened carefully to everyone’s concerns and discussed positive suggestions for the development of sports.This heartfelt initiative by the chairperson of the Rajasthan State Sports Council was greatly appreciated by the players, parents, and coaches. All expressed their appreciation that a high-ranking official personally interacting with them, listening to their concerns, and boosting their morale is certainly a positive and inspiring step towards strengthening the sports culture.
