Vimal Bhatia | tnnJaisalmer: The Education Department has initiated disciplinary measures following allegations of cheating and an attempted paper leak during the Lower Division Clerk (LDC) recruitment examination held on July 5 at Swami Vivekananda Model School in Jaisalmer.The decision comes in light of a police investigation that followed the arrest of the main accused, teacher Padam Singh. On Monday, the Joint Director of Education in Jodhpur suspended Padam Singh. Two invigilators present during the examination, Bhim Singh and Jalam Singh, have also been suspended for their involvement.Despite being named in the FIR, no action has yet been taken against the school’s principal, Ummed Singh, who, along with two other accused individuals, remains at large.Chief District Education Officer Mahesh Bissa confirmed the suspensions, stating that they were a result of the allegations concerning the paper leak. The police also arrested candidate Manu Kanwar alongside Singh, prompting a thorough investigation.Bissa said that Singh’s suspension is effective immediately, with his responsibilities reassigned to the Block Education Officer’s office in Pokhran during the suspension period.According to Education Department rules, only the Director of Secondary Education in Bikaner has the authority to suspend a school principal, which has delayed further actions against Ummed Singh. The ongoing police investigation continues to seek answers and apprehend the remaining accused.
