Jaipur: At the renowned Guards Polo Club in London, an exciting match for the prestigious Jaipur Trophy will be played on July 18, Saturday. This match will be played on the occasion of the Indian Polo Day.The Jaipur Trophy will witness a thrilling match between the Jaipur Polo Team and the Guards Polo Club team.Representing the Jaipur Polo Team will be Padmanabh Singh, Will Emerson, Simran Singh Shergill and Naveen Jindal. Meanwhile, the Guards Polo Club team will feature Sardar Jaisal Singh, Abhimanyu Pathak, Kuldeep Singh Rathore and Juan Gris Zavaleta.As per Indian Standard Time, the match will begin at 7.30pm on July 18. The match will be streamed live on Guards TV: http://tv.guardspoloclub.com/Earlier, on the same day the final of the Indian Polo Challenge Shield will also be organised. The winning team of this India vs Britain clash will be awarded the trophy by Padmanabh Singh. It is to be noted, this tradition was initiated by Man Singh II. It was later carried forward by Brigadier Bhawani Singh, and is now being continued by Padmanabh Singh.It is to be noted that the Jaipur Trophy at the Guards Polo Club of Windsor, stands as a prestigious symbol of the historic and cultural ties between India and Britain through the sport of polo. The trophy was presented to Guards Polo Club in 1968 by Man Singh II, one of the greatest polo players of the 20th century and a legendary patron of the sport.Following his demise in 1970, Gayatri Devi continued to support the trophy for nearly four decades by regularly attending matches. The Jaipur Trophy was last played in 2011, after which it disappeared from the Guards Polo Club calendar for 11 years. It was revived in 2025 through the efforts of Padmanabh Singh, reinstating Jaipur’s rich polo legacy and re-establishing over a century-old sporting connection between India and Britain on the global stage.
